ANZAC Day 2008

Photo was taken on Anzac Day 2008, the story behind the cannon is true Kiwi style. My son loves to come up here and play.
75mm German made Turkish field gun was captured by ANZAC forces during World War 1 and was returned to New Zealand as a trophy of War. It was sent to Arrowtown in 1921 for public display as a war memorial. The gun was partially destroyed by British fire or by a premature detonation of a shell while still in the guns barrel.
