What is the answer?

Six frogs are sitting on a lily pad, one frog decides to jump off the lily pad. How many frogs are left sitting on the lily pad?

Original Police Building, Arrowtown-New Zealand

Photo was taken on Sunday 29/06/08 while at the Chinese Village in Arrowtown. This building was part of the original police camp and was built in 1863, restored over the years by the Arrowtown Lions Club, Lakes District Museum and the Arrowtown Heritage fund. Just one more reason why I love living in such a histroy rich invironment.

ANZAC Day 2008

Photo was taken on Anzac Day 2008, the story behind the cannon is true Kiwi style. My son loves to come up here and play.
75mm German made Turkish field gun was captured by ANZAC forces during World War 1 and was returned to New Zealand as a trophy of War. It was sent to Arrowtown in 1921 for public display as a war memorial. The gun was partially destroyed by British fire or by a premature detonation of a shell while still in the guns barrel.

Lake Hayes Queenstown

One of things I enjoy about real estate is my camera is always in the car. As I drove to the office this morning I couldn’t help but stop and take this photo. Taken at Lake Hayes, half way between Queenstown and Arrowtown, one of the most photographed lakes in New Zealand. The key to living in such a stunning place is “remembering to look up”

Global Tourism To Generate $7893 billion in 2008

A positive article was found on the wounderful world of the web yesterday, enjoy.
A report by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has highlighted the importance of travel and tourism on the overall worldwide economy. Tourism and travel currently account for around 10% of world GDP and it believes this figure is set to grow at an annual rate of 4% over the next decade as more and more people choose to travel to previously unconnected cities and emerging hotspots become accessible at a low-cost, buy a property abroad and emigrate overseas. According to the WTO, a billion trips were made in 2006
Even though it has always been known that travel and tourism are vital to the economy of so many countries, the contribution to the worldwide economy may surprise many. Globally, travel and tourism demand is expected to generate around $7, 893 billion worth of worldwide economic activity in 2008, reaching highs of $14,838 billion by 2018. The overall contribution of tourism and travel to worldwide GDP apart from basic travel expenses and accommodation creates a ripple effect on the local economy with growth in tourism to an area resulting in increased service requirements, commodities and in popular destinations; property. All of these factors will have a material impact on both the local workforce and money coming into the region and the tourism industry provides jobs for over 200 million people. Renowned tourism and now holiday property hotspots such as Spain’s Costa del Sol have developed to include a variety of international service providers from property furnishing services to accountancy.
Longer term the impact of migratory travel may see a reduction in travel for example in countries such as Britain and the Middle East, where nations such as the United Arab Emirates, have been dependant upon foreign immigrants more than most. Employment and a good standard of living is one of the principal draws for expats to the region. However, as emerging markets such as India continue to grow and prosper, domestic opportunities for employment become greater with the overall impact of reducing poverty. It is highly likely that many expats from India will return to their “homeland” leaving countries such as the UAE short of workers. This repatriation of some of the workforce would probably see an increase in costs in the region, with companies having to increase workers salaries to retain their services. This in turn would impact upon the cost of services and commodities with a knock on effect to the consumer.
The travel and tourism market can be very fickle and if costs increase too much then many may look at other less expensive regions of the world, taking us back to the beginning and the start of a new cycle. Attracting and keeping travellers and tourists in the future will be key to the long term success of many regions of the world and their long term economies.

It’s All About Shock Value!!!

They wouldn’t do it if it didn’t work. By they, I mean the media and by it, I mean the shock and/or fear they instill in the public. Face it: dread sells.
The headlines turn to fear, the public loses confidence and the downward spiral begins. Sure, oil and food prices are on the rise and the property market has been in a trough….. but is the sky falling?
Don’t blame the media - they know what sells.
The question is how long will we keep sub-scribing to it?

Q.V Property Statistics, Nope the Sky isn’t Falling.

Most of the main provincial centres also showed slowing annual growth rates. Gisborne (1.1%), New Plymouth (0.5%), Wanganui (1.7%), Palmerston North (1.8%) and Nelson (3%) are now all showing property values only slightly higher than the same time last year. Rotorua was stable at 5.8%, while Napier and Hastings both increased slightly from last month to 4.1%.

Queenstown again showed an increase from the previous month, now climbing to an annual growth rate to 7.4%. Despite a further decline this month, Invercargill still has the highest annual increase of any area in NZ at 19.1%.

Queenstown Rises Above The Doom And Gloom (N.Z Herald, 17/5/08)

New Zealand’s premier resort town is rising above the economic doom and gloom gripping the country.Queenstown is predicted to continue thriving, mainly because of Australia’s economic success. The Queenstown Lakes District is not immune to price increases and the downturn in property sales, but has recently topped the ladder for population and business growth in a study, and optimism remains high.Much of this is due to the growing tourist market, mostly from Australia, and the healthy foreign demand for property and services in the region.”The well-being of our economy relies more on the well-being of the Australian economy than it does on the New Zealand economy,” said Queenstown Lakes District mayor Clive Geddes.”The single largest group of visitors who come here are Australians, and they are also very active in purchasing retirement and holiday homes.”With the Australian economy doing well, and its Government about to give tax cuts worth $57 billion over four years, Queenstown’s opportunities should only increase.

The Law of Attraction- Fact or Fiction? should the Secret remain just that, a secret.

Many months ago I was given an opportunity to watch a DVD called “The Secret” and to be honest, my initial reaction was “Yep, Never going to happen”
Well I watched it 3 times and then went and brought the book, I was intrigued as to if this would actually work. So did what it said to do I asked, then I believed and lastly was to recieve. The result was exactly what I had thought and expected, nothing. So I filed it under things not to do again and carried on with life as I knew it.

The problem was I had introduced a new thought into my head and couldn’t get it out. I kept looking at what I had and deemed to be normal and thinking this one very powerful thought “what if the the law of attraction does exist?” once you introduce a thought like that into old thought patterns nothings the same.

The answer to the title is simply up to the individual. Do I believe in the Law of Attraction - Yes!!! What have I got to loose.

And this is how I came to this result.

Anthony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Wallace Wattles and more. These authors give the question depth and understanding and take you on a journey of discovery.
